Blocklists
The blocklists field answers the question, "Where has this IP address been reported?". It provides a list of all the blocklists that list an IP address as well as their names, websites and an ipdata defined category.
There are 2 types of blocklists;
- Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)
- Commercial
Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) blocklists
OSINT blocklists are shared blocklists maintained by sysadmins across the internet to help each other fight spam and malicious users eg. Rutgers, Spamhaus etc.
When you lookup an IP address at ipdata we query 100+ blocklists and tell you whether the IP address has been listed.
OSINT data is available to all users on any paid plan.
If you have a suggestion for a list you'd like included please send an email to [email protected].
Commercial blocklists
Commercial blocklists are professional blocklists maintained by security professionals. They are often manually curated and therefore of higher quality with fewer false positives than OSINT blocklists. We are currently partnered with 3 commercial blocklist providers
Commercial blocklists are only available to users on the Business and Enterprise plans.
We will continue to partner with more providers. If you have a suggestion for a list you'd like included please send an email to [email protected].
